So this morning, we ate breakfast at our housers' place; breakfast was quite big, we had a lot of choice too. There was multiple choices of cereal, yoghurt, fruit juices, and other drinks, we also hadtoast, ham omelet, etc. Yeah, the family that is housing us, is really nice.
Then we had their driver bring us to school. Since they live really close to the school, we only have to leave approx. 15 minutes before, so that's really nice.
Then there, we met everyone (from our school, as well as others), and waited to have everyone there (my dad also joined us), and headed to the buses to go on our tours. (Once again, while waiting, Zoe went to me; and she stayed with me until we got on the buses-- the wait was pretty long, and in the crowd, I was the only one she really recognized; as Ms. Stock was hidden by all the huge people/students-- did I mentionmake money yet, that I feel really short around all those people? Well, yeah.)
The bus ride took quite a while, but we finally got to the Great Wall at BaDaLing. There we took these special seats that bring you up to the great wall (we didn't have enough time to climb the stairs to it), once we reched the top, we had a half hour to stroll around on the wall. Rui, my dad and I went the furthest, I believe (we evem got back before everyone else). We took a lot of pictures though; we didn't particularly walk fast (for once ;P).
Then we took those special seatsback down, and took the bus how to make moneyto a buffet-restaurant. There was a bit of everything, and it was good too. On the way back to the buses, however, I couldn't see my dad anywhere-- everyone else was already on the bus. So I ran to get him-- it tunrs out hewas strolling around the market that was on the floor beneath the restaurant. So I had to take him by the hand (in case he would get lost again, you know), but when we approached the buses, he felt embarassed ;P
So, after that, we went to see the Ming Tombs. It's like an underground palace (sort of, in size-- not the architecture/design). It was intersesting to see. Oh and one phrase we "learned" when we were ther was "Wo Men Qu Lai Le!" ("We are getting out of here!") --> I think you have to know the story behind one of the gates, to understand why we learned that particular phrase (it's a long story).
After that, we headed back to ISBeijing, and that when we got our Honour Jazz Band Festival t-shirts. They're really cool! We'll be wearing them for our concert.
Then our host families came to get us, and Rui and I were able to go to a small market in a different district than the one we are currently "living" at, and it was quite fun. Annietha's mom brought us there (Annietha had volleyball practice), and it was really nice because she knows all the people selling stuff there, so we always got the cheapest prices, and best quality, (they couldn't cheat us). We then went to a Restaurant (they're all quite cheap here), that specializes in food from a particular area in China, called Sichuan. Then we went to the Holiday Inn hotel, were there are shops and things, and there we got ice-cream! It was really good as well! :)
Then, we took a taxi back (we only had to pay 47 RMB = +/- 4.7 euros! It's so cheap! This includes a big detour we had to make because of construction, and we alsowent in anotherdistrict, etc.).
Then, Rui and I studied our Jazz theory (she fell asleep), and here I am, finishing up my blog post.
I'm really tired, and I have a long day ahead! I think I'm gonna be playing 5 hours of Jazz, visit two markets (with about 3 hours of shopping for that-- in a row)! Then we are going to Tianyi Theatre to watcha Chinese Acrobat show (while eating dinner)!
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!
